Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official said the incident left him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
