19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.
Success also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.
His retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
